Automated Maintenance Systems was incorporated in South Dakota in 1978. Charles J. Glood, Founder and President, began his career in Bismarck, ND as a janitor in 1973 while working through college. He rose through the ranks all the way to Chief Executive Officer.
Charles J. Glood started working as a janitor in 1971 while going to college. Chuck is a true American success story. He started working as a janitor while going to college and rose quickly through the ranks to a tile specialist, Supervisor, Manager, Regional Manager, and then was named Chief Executive Officer of that company in 1980.
He purchased the South Dakota Division of Automated Maintenance Systems in 1984, and with Chuck’s energy and direction, that company quickly surpassed the parent company. In 2010, he promoted his son Charles E. Glood to Chief Executive Officer. Chuck still maintains an active role in strategic planning and finance in Automated Maintenance Systems.
Charles E. (Erik) Glood started at Automated Maintenance Systems, like his father, as a tile specialist while he attended Black Hills State University. In 2000, Erik was promoted to Special Projects Manager, managing the maintenance of several department stores for AMS, as well as post-construction clean-up, carpet steam cleaning, and tile maintenance projects.
In 2006, Erik was promoted to Sales Manager. In 2007, he was promoted to Vice President of Operations. Then in 2010, Erik was promoted to Chief Executive Officer as well as receiving part ownership of the company. Erik prides himself on his first-hand knowledge of every duty he now oversees and looks forward to continuing the same spirit, ethics, and tradition that brought Automated Maintenance Systems through its first successful 32 years of operation.
Ellen M. Glood is another American success story. She has a Master’s Degree in counseling psychology and worked successfully in that field until 1990. In 1990, she was awarded a Bush Fellowship and attended Stanford Business School. She then joined her husband at Automated Maintenance Systems.
In 1994, Ellen set up her own woman-owned company and was awarded a major contract for taking care of Century Link (Qwest) facilities in North Dakota and South Dakota. Because of her excellent work, the states of Montana and Minnesota, and the Northern Nebraska region were added to her portfolio within a few, short years. Ellen also services as a valuable asset to Automated Maintenance Systems in human resources, training, and sales development.
